The Blue Ridge Snorkel Trail is a unique wildlife recreation opportunity located in Western North Carolina that connects people to the fascinating underwater world through a series of publicly accessible river snorkel sites. In 2023, NCWRC and partners Mainspring Conservation Trust and MountainTrue installed 10 publicly accessible snorkel sites in 10 different counties across western North Carolina. The sites are hosted by city, county, and state parks, the US Forest Service, and Mainspring Conservation Trust. More sites are slated to be established in 2024 and 2025 with new donations. Each site on the trail is designated by signage that provides information on water safety and notable aquatic species that can be observed at the site.
This project is fully supported by donations and cost-share. Your donation would help ensure this project continues to be successful with targeted outreach, expanded locations and necessary maintenance to ensure sites have the equipment and resources it needs.
